Custom Fabricated Steel SMC Compression Mold Tooling for the Motorcycle Industry

A world famous company in the motorcycle industry needed custom molds to produce motorcycle class "A" painted finished parts. With our expertise at custom-fabricated steel SMC compression mold tooling, Snider Molding Company was taken on to complete the job. With the customer's specifications and 3D CAD models guiding us, our engineering team lent their assistance with mold designing, concept, and product design assistance. Utilizing this, we fabricated molds with maximum length of 75", maximum width of 55", maximum height of 40", and 1 to 2 mold cavities. The estimated tool weight ranged from 3,500 to 40,000 lbs., demonstrating the size of the kind of tooling we build.
Our CNC machining area was fully engaged for milling, drilling, contour cutting, boring, 5-axis contour milling, and electrical discharge machining (EDM). The complexity of our SMC compression tooling was demonstrated by the main trunk body, fenders, inner trunk, door, and bumper molds we created for P-20 steel and finished with SPI tool surface finish for the painted parts, all with a tooling tolerance of ± 0.003". These pieces for the motorcycle/leisure industry were rigorously tested, from first piece inspection to functionality testing, and delivered to the client in Wisconsin in 18 weeks.
